History of Birmingham

During the 1166, Birmingham changed from a village into a market town and later it became internationally prominent during the 18th century during the Industrial Revolution. It was the centre of some of the leading developments in science and technology, producing various innovative products that form the basis of today’s industrial society. Birmingham has been the centre of some very important scientific breakthroughs, such as radiography and gas lighting along with the first operation for a hole in the heart.
